Nebraska senior defensive tackle Jared Crick was in street clothes as his teammates warmed up on the field at War Memorial Stadium before kickoff Saturday.
Crick did not practice this week after getting “dinged” against Washington, coach Bo Pelini told reporters Thursday. But the coaches never disclosed Crick’s injury, stating only that the talented lineman would be questionable for Saturday’s game against Wyoming.
We now know Crick will be out.
The Huskers do get senior cornerback Alfonzo Dennard back in the lineup, which is expected to be just one of many personnel changes in the NU secondary.
Junior P.J. Smith will play safety beside senior Austin Cassidy when junior Daimion Stafford moves to the nickel back position. Expect to see redshirt freshman Corey Cooper in some fashion.
Redshirt freshman Josh Mitchell, a starter last week, did not make the Nebraska travel roster. Through a spokesman, Pelini told The World-Herald that Mitchell’s absence was not related to a disciplinary issue.
Kickoff is coming soon. Check back here for more updates from Laramie, Wyo.
