Omaha Storm Chasers president Alan Stein has announced his plan to retire effective immediately.
“It was the highlight of my baseball career to see Werner Park open this spring and to know Omaha would keep its Triple-A franchise long into the future,” Stein said. “I love this team and this community and I know I leave both in good hands with the management team now led by President and General Manager Martie Cordaro.”
Stein took over as president of the then Omaha Royals in 2006 when Bill Shea bought the majority ownership in the team. Along with Stein’s retirement owner Bill Shea announced that Martie Cordaro has been named president.
“Cordaro has proven his leadership skills and his commitment to the Omaha franchise,” Shea said. “He’s helped us build a strong reputation and brings seamless continuity to the management team.”

Alan Stein was the worse thing to happen to Omaha since the ’75 tornado. Here’s a guy from Kentucky who took an Omaha business, moved it to Sarpy County while Omaha was building a baseball stadium downtown, and used the city’s name to work against the city.
Was it a conspiracy between Warren Buffett, who owns part of the O Royals, David Sokol, disgraced former employee of Buffett and then chair of the Metropolitan and Convention Authority who built the downtown stadium, and Stein to send the O Royals at taxpayer expense to Sarpy while leaving downtown Omaha without a team?
Thank goodness Alan Stein won’t be around this area anymore.
Ricky from Omaha
Ricky’s out of his mind. Alan Stein is the best thing to hit the Omaha area in a long time. That downtown stadium was forced onto us by a power hungry mayor and his fellow cronies. We wanted the new park AWAY from the downtown area, where we could have room to spread out (think parking), and away from the ridiculous prices that the city of Omaha charges for every little thing. So thanks for everything Alan, have a good retirement, and congratulations to my friend Martie Cordaro, who has earned everything he’s gotten, also due in part to the best staff in minor league baseball. He’s the best thing for Omaha baseball since Bill Gorman. Great job Martie!
