Recruiting: Zaire Anderson officially commits
BY | 7:58 am, Friday, Oct. 21 | POSTED IN Big Red Today

It took an extra day for Nebraska’s eighth commit for the 2012 recruiting class to make his pledge official with NU coaches — but Riverside (Calif.) Community College linebacker Zaire Anderson sure didn’t dawdle when he had the chance.

The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Anderson tried to reach defensive coordinator Carl Pelini earlier in the week. When he couldn’t he made definitive contact Thursday and became the Huskers’ third linebacker commit for the class.

“I think I can stop the run pretty good, and I’m good at finding the ball,” Anderson told Huskers Illustrated, a recruiting partner with The World-Herald. “I’ve got a good sense of getting to the ball and making plays. I’m pretty good on the edge as well.”

Anderson will try to get here by January, even though Riverside’s term doesn’t end until February. He’ll have three years to play two, but NU probably isn’t recruiting the guy to hold blocking pads as a redshirt for one year.
