Deion Jones, a New Orleans Jesuit High School linebacker who had been a Nebraska commit for month, switched to LSU after Tigers’ head coach Les Miles made an in-home visit Thursday night. Undoubtedly the proximity of Jones’ home to LSU made a big difference, as did Miles making his in-home visit just 48 hours before the SEC Championship.
NU’s Bo Pelini was slated for an in-home next week before Jones made an official visit to LSU. It was defensive backs coach Corey Raymond who dropped by this week. In lieu of visiting Jones this week, Pelini dropped in on uncommitted linebackers Quanzell Lambert and Jared Afalava. The Huskers will more doggedly have to pursue their commitments now.

Dang, I knew it would happen. We need playmakers like this kid on defense.
Yes, it is too bad. I know Deion is going to a good school in lsu but I sure wanted to see him knock some heads in Big ten country. Oh well, good luck to him and hope we close the deal on at least some of our other big name kids. GBR!
With the other rumors I am hearing about Brion Carnes, Andrew Green, and Jamal Turner wanting to transfer, loosing any recruit right now is not good. The decision to stick with Martinez even late in the games may just come back to bite Bo. I pray not, but if these rumors are true, recruiting could be very interesting. With Carl going to be a head coach, this also makes the recruiting interesting. I wonder if Tom Osborne made a visit or two, if that would help? Oh wait, I don’t think he can, can he?
why would Andrew Green transfer… his our starting CB ?, If you meant his brother Aaron Green I find that hard to believe. I think Aaron has higher goals in life and I would be shocked. Would love to know who your hearing the rumors from.
Figured this would happen. Never like our chances when an under-recruited player is offered by his favorite team (that just happens to be in line for a national championship).
Oh, well. On to the next. Good luck, Jones.
Never understood why Jones was only a 3star…His stats this year in high school were too much for LSU to pass up. Super-bummed! I was so impressed by Jones that I wasn’t worried about Lambert coming or not. We should have kept the heat on this kid! Oh well. He’s not going to play next year, which he would if he came to NU, but SEC and perennial national championship contender and homestate/favorite team were too much to pass up. But man, he has that FIRE on the field, that I wanted for us!!! Good luck kid…
