Creighton to Dayton? Maybe down the road.
It won’t be next year. In my column this morning, I wrote that Creighton would be playing at Dayton next year, as well as in a Las Vegas tournament that would include Arizona State, Wisconsin and Illinois. That was per a conversation I had with CU Athletic Director Bruce Rasmussen on Monday.
On Tuesday, Rasmussen told me Creighton had initially agreed to play at Dayton next year (but hadn’t signed a contract) but dropped the idea when it secured California on the schedule. Rasmussen said Dayton remains interested and didn’t rule out a series in the future. Meanwhile, the Vegas tourney includes Arkansas, not Illinois.
Rasmussen and I had a misunderstanding on Monday. It’s on me. My apologies for the confusion.
