>> Scouting Wichita State: The Shockers are off to their best league start in school history, exceeding the 7-2 starts in 1995 and 2000. … Wichita State had a 10-game winning streak snapped last week by Illinois State. … The Shockers rank among the national leaders in field-goal percentage (22nd, .435), and also lead the Missouri Valley Conference in scoring defense, field-goal percentage defense and steals per game. … Center Jazimen Gordon poses problems inside for the Bluejays as she’s one of the Valley’s top rebounders and shot blockers. She teams with Chynna Turner to give the Shockers the ability to dominate the paint. … Haleigh Lankster’s length has created problems in the past for Creighton. She’s second in the league in steals, and has made 111 3-pointers in her career. … Jessica Diamond, Turner, Lankster and Gordon all average at least 10 points per game in conference play.

>> Scouting Creighton: The Bluejays have dug their way out of a 0-3 hole to start Valley play, winning five of their past six games. They are tied with Drake in fifth place, a game behind three teams tied for second. … Carli Tritz is averaging 15.7 points in league play and 15.5 points in her last 13 games. She is shooting 50 percent from the field in her last 15 games after a slow start in which she made 32.9 percent of her field-goal attempts in her first five games. … Senior forward DaNae Moore is coming off the best scoring week of her career, totaling 23 points in wins against Northern Iowa and Bradley. … Creighton is second behind Wichita State in scoring defense for both conference and all games. … Starting guard McKenzie Fujan broke her nose in the win against Bradley. She will play without a protective mask.

>> Opening tips: Wichita State hasn’t won in Omaha since Jan. 1, 2001, dropping its last 10 on Creighton’s homecourt.
