SCOUTING REPORTS
Scouting Doane: The Tigers are 5-11 and tied for last in the Great Plains Athletic Conference of NAIA Division II. … Common opponents for Doane and UNO include Briar Cliff, the GPAC team that upset UNO. Doane split with the Chargers, winning 89-75 on the road and losing 77-71 at home. Doane also beat Peru State by four (UNO beat the Bobcats by 35), split with Hastings (UNO beat the Broncos by 33) and split with Concordia (UNO beat the Bulldogs by 32). … Nick Reed, who averages team bests of 17.5 points and 5.9 rebounds, has missed the past three games with injury and isn’t expected to play Saturday. … Austin Benson has connected on 46.7 percent (49 of 105) from 3-point range, while Jens Scholl has made 47.2 percent (25 of 53). Bryan Meyer, at 40.8 percent (20 of 49), is another starter shooting better than 40 percent from 3. … Doane scored 100 points for the first time in eight seasons in a 102-93 win against Concordia on Jan. 25.

Scouting UNO: By scoring a career-high 31 points in Thursday’s 83-81 win at Avila (Mo.), Mitch Albers reached 1,700 points for his career (he’s at 1,704) and now needs 113 to pass Dean Thompson for the all-time lead at UNO. With five games left, Albers — averaging 18.6 for the season — needs to average 22.6 the rest of the way to break it. … With 180 career 3-pointers, Albers needs two more to pass Seth Nelson (1999-2003) for fourth all time at UNO and seven to pass Dan Morrow (1999-2003) for third. … Point guard Caleb Steffensmeier scored a career-high 15 points and added seven assists Thursday, though his four turnovers were a season high. The Mav point guard’s 3.6-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio is among the best in Division I. … Guard Isiah Gandy returned to the playing rotation Thursday after sitting out one game for conduct detrimental to the team.
