PRIDE OF IOWA CHAMPS
The Nodaway Valley boys basketball program recently clinched its 11th Pride of Iowa Conference regular-season title in its 16-year membership in the league. The Wolverines finished second in the other five years. The school’s conference record in that time is 224-20 (.918). This year’s team finished 16-0 in league play and is 17-2 overall.

WVC TOURNEY CHAMPS
The OA-BCIG girls and IKM-Manning boys claimed championships Monday in the Western Valley Conference basketball tournament finals at Onawa. The OA-BCIG girls (21-0) outlasted IKM-Manning 68-64 in overtime, getting 27 points and five rebounds from Northern Iowa recruit Jessie Pauley. Junior TJ Sterk led the IKM-Manning boys (19-2) in their 64-51 championship game win over Lawton-Bronson, collecting 25 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

BOYS BASKETBALL
>> Luke Neitzel and Kainen Somers, Creston: Neitzel led the Panthers with 14 points and seven rebounds, and Somers made the game-winning runner with 1.3 seconds left in a 54-52 overtime win over Clarinda.
>> Luke Schafer, East Mills: The senior poured in 38 points in the Wolverines’ 75-71 overtime win over Riverside. He hit 11 of 22 from the field, including 3 of 5 from 3-point range, and 13 of 14 from the line, to go with four assists.
>> Caleb Lange, Lenox: The freshman had 21 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and three steals in a 61-56 win over Stanton.
>> David Hicks, Carroll Kuemper: Hicks finished with 21 points, including 5 of 7 from 3-point range, in a 70-63 win over Denison-Schleswig.
>> Jake Roden, West Harrison: Roden collected 24 points, seven rebounds and three steals in a 63-57 win over Westwood.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
>> Courtney Cunard, Missouri Valley: Led the way with 17 points and six assists in a 52-46 win over Audubon that completed the Lady Reds’ first Western Iowa Conference title in 31 years.
>> Sara Sederburg, Stanton: The sophomore made 8 of 11 from the field, including 6 of 8 from 3-point range, and added five assists, five rebounds and four steals in a 64-39 win over Essex.
