The Youngstown (Ohio) Cardinal Mooney pipeline is still going strong for the Nebraska football team.
Coach Bo Pelini and offensive coordinator Tim Beck’s alma mater elicited the second commit for NU’s 2013 class Monday, when 6-foot, 180-pound athlete Marcus McWilson called Husker coaches and gave his verbal pledge.
“I thought it would be a good fit for me,” McWilson told 247Sports. “With the Mooney family up there it’s a great fit. They definitely have a good academic program and it gives me an opportunity to play. I was talking to my parents and we decided it would be a good fit for me.”
McWilson is a 3-star, 88-rating prospect according to 247. He projects to safety and finished with eight interceptions for state champion Mooney. He’s the No. 30 athlete in the country and the No. 20 prospect in Ohio. He had offers from Michigan State, Illinois, Indiana and Purdue, among others.
NU has offered another Mooney star — linebacker Courtney Love. Love has offers from Ohio State and Oklahoma, among other schools.
