Cody Green wins Tulsa starting job
Sam McKewon Omaha World-Herald

Former Nebraska quarterback Cody Green emerged as Tulsa’s No. 1 quarterback following a sparkling performance in the Golden Hurricane’s spring game Saturday.

Green completed 8-of-9 passes for 189 yards and three touchdowns Saturday. His closest competitor, Kalen Henderson, struggled some.

When he chose to leave NU, Green said he had a variety of options, including Baylor, USC and Kansas State. Flashy names, sure, but the best transfer any quarterback can make is the one that gets him playing time and a chance to lead. That wasn’t going to happen behind Heisman Trophy candidates at USC (Matt Barkley) or KSU (Collin Klein). Baylor was an intriguing choice, but Green ultimately picked right with Tulsa, a Conference USA favorite in 2012.

If he stays healthy and keeps the job heading into the fall, he’ll have his first Tulsa start at a familiar stop. Iowa State.
