It could be the recruiting momentum boost Nebraska’s football team needs heading into the spring game weekend.
Lincoln Southwest linebacker Josh Banderas — son of former NU tight end Tom Banderas — became the third verbal commit for the Huskers’ 2013 class Thursday night, Huskers Illustrated confirmed. The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder finished with 124 tackles and four sacks last year for the Silver Hawks, who advanced to the Class A state semifinals.
Banderas is a four-star player according to 247Sports — a recruiting partner with The World-Herald — and the No. 153 overall player in the country. He had offers from Iowa, Kansas State, Vanderbilt and Tulsa, among others, and was getting strong interest from USC.
