Joseph salary, Bo extension
Rich Kaipust Omaha World-Herald

We reported all the updated Nebraska football staff salaries back in January, but that was before Corey Raymond left for LSU and the Huskers replaced him with Terry Joseph as secondary coach.

This will round it out: Joseph, according to the NU athletic department, will be paid $230,000 in his first year. That puts him fifth among Husker assistants, behind offensive coordinator Tim Beck ($365,000), defensive coordinator John Papuchis ($300,000) and veterans Ron Brown and Barney Cotton ($240,000 each).

Raymond was set to make $200,000 in 2012.

Also, NU Athletic Director Tom Osborne confirmed through a university spokesman that no major changes have been made to the revised contract that head coach Bo Pelini signed last spring (we have an interactive version of that contract here). Per terms of that agreement, Pelini does see a scheduled bump from $2.775 million to $2.875 million, not including potential bonuses.

Osborne also said that one additional year was added to the Pelini contract so that it again is extended out to five years (through the 2016 season).

H.C.’s should have to ‘Duel’ their A.D.’s for raises and extensions. :)

    1. Confused Husker Fan says:

Why are we once again extending the contract of a man who hasn’t proven capable of leading this program to anything substantial. Osborne is going to go down as one of the worst AD’s to ever grace the face of college athletics. Giving extensions and then turning around and having to fire the guy the following season (happened twice now) is beyond explanation.

      1. NUCORNDEVIL says:

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

    2. joey says:

How much did BARNEY’S go up??? Beings he didn’t do squat to fix anything. Oh he yelled a couple times in Spring practice… wow ( yawn ).

  2. rob says:

you clearly don’t remember steve petersen or bill callahan

    1. NUCORNDEVIL says:

Not every hire is going to be a Petersen, or Caliham.
      Stop the fear.

  3. Richy Rich says:

I make more than all of the assistant coaches, so I don’t care.

    1. rickenaz says:

      I don’t,,,, but I have a cooler hat!

    3. joey says:

Wow, how nice. Another Yahoo Billionaire ( PNONY )

  4. truenufan says:

Bo deserves it. You don’t just come in and instantly win national championships. Its a work in progress. We need to keep some assistant coaches around for more than 1 or 2 years then things will start gelling. Watch and see haters. And corndevil you are absolute scum go to someone elses pages and bash them.

    1. joey says:

What’s there to change????? How about a QB coach beings NU QB’s struggle so much. How about a REAL DC, we now have a DC, who couldn’t do his 1st job AT ALL!!!! Now he gets PROMOTED to a Then to make matters worse, we still keep the last piece of the puzzle to the Callahan flop years. Yup, BARNEY COTTON. Which hasn’t did ANYTHING since he’s been here. But if Beck goes some place else, take a wild guess who the OC will be.. Ding Ding Ding Ding.. Good guess FANS… Barney Cotton.

    2. NUCORNDEVIL says:

Didn’t Bob Stoops and Chizik ‘instantly’ win National Championships?
I guess NU is on the Mac Brown program…….

    3. A Fan says:

Really. Carroll did it at USC. The year before he showed up, USC was 5 – 7 (2000). In 2001, USC was 6 – 6. In 2002, they went 11 – 2 and were ranked #4. In 2003 and 2004, national champs.

      Saban… first year at Alabama… 7 – 6 (2007) They were 6 – 7 in 2006. In 2008, 12 – 2. In 2009, 14 – 0 and national champs.

Tressel at Ohio State. The first year he coached at OSU, 7 – 5. The next year (2002)… 14 – 0 and national champs.

How about Bob Stoops at OU? OU was horrible before he arrived. First year there… the Sooners go 7 – 5. The next year they win the national title.

You’re wrong. Winning big, immediately, can be done.

  5. truenufan says:

We also need to stop the bo bashing. Fans not critics. Come on!!!

    1. Sooka says:

You mean Boo Boo…………Yogi’s side kick………..

  6. NUCORNDEVIL says:

Pelini shouldn’t be paid more than 1.2 mil at the most, he has done what any coach having 10+ years of experience could do with NU talent.

  7. Mike Caramba says:

Corndevil said he’d rather have Nebraska go 4-8 and fire Pelini than win a Big Ten Championship in 2012. No credibility.

    1. NUCORNDEVIL says:

Ok mike, present some evidence, dont be a Texashusker.
The reality is, NU is paying Pelini 3mil to employ a complicated secondary it appears may take players 2 or 3 yrs to understand………..genius!

      1. Mike Caramba says:

Are you seriously denying you said that?

        1. NUCORNDEVIL says:

Mike……When people want to believe, they stop thinking.

      2. Mike Caramba says:

Your comment was on “Recruiting: Making hay on Junior Day”, dated February 17th, 2012. Apparently it has since been deleted, but it’s clear from my reaction (to missing comment) and the reaction of another reader that you said you’d choose 4-8/Pelini getting fired.

I suppose if you’re going to deny writing that, there’s nothing I can do. Maybe you’ve had a change of heart, which is fair enough.

        1. NUCORNDRIVEL says:

I should mention that I said that to make C0RNDEVIL look bad. Sorry Mike. It was deleted because it wasn’t him/her/it.
