What others are saying: No Huskers in 2012 College Football Hall of Fame class
World-Herald Sports Omaha World-Herald

The 2012 College Football Hall of Fame class was announced Thursday, and no Huskers made the cut despite having former quarterbacks Tommie Frazier and Eric Crouch — as well as outside linebacker Trev Alberts — on the ballot.

Needless to say, the omission of any Huskers was a surprise to some (mostly due to a rule barring back-to-back selections from the same school — Will Shields was selected in 2011), and some people aren’t happy. The World-Herald’s Tom Shatel wrote that he predicted Heisman Trophy winner Eric Crouch would be inducted, and that Tommie Frazier was deserving. Here’s a breakdown of what some local, national and regional media members have to say about the 2012 ballot:

I love the last comment…lol That was priceless…lol

  2. joey says:

Of course Tommie Frazier wasn’t in the hall of fame. He’s was the field General in the slaughter of an SEC team. To the East Coast. That right there is a Capital Offense…lol

If there is a rule that says you cannot take a player from a team that had a player taken last year, then
I have two questions. 1) Why even accept nominations for the players? They have us speculating about which husker would be selected. Many were expecting 2 or 3 huskers to go in. 2) How did Alabama get three guys in over a four year period recently? Does the rule only apply to non-SEC schools?

I support rules to limit letting guys in, but the rule has to be “written”, it has to make sense, and it has to be applied equally to all.

The HOF is no different than the Heisman Trophy (and other honors). Its a bunch of good ole boys who have not evolved into the current century. We need proper checks and balance to these things.

You can’t put Tommy in the HOF. He beat Miami and Florida. To the high and mighty collage sports writer. That is a sin. You cant beat the best and be the best. Shame on him! GBR

  5. USMC RETIRED says:

When did they make that rule…..consecutive years from the same school???? Look at all of the NOTRE DAME players and coaches!!! That rule is a JOKE. And if you REALLY look at it, some of those players…pretty good, not great college players, went on to have PRETTY GOOD to GREAT PRO careers and that HAD to influence some of the voting. So, the class of 2013 and 2015 will have Tommie Frazier and Eric Crouch included. WOW!!!
