On Monday, Creighton’s Gregory Echenique and the Venezuelan national team will get a final shot to make the 2012 Olympics during the FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Caracas, Venezuela.
Twelve teams will be vying for the final three spots in the Olympics. The tournament begins with teams broken into four groups in the preliminary round. The top two teams in each group advance to the quarterfinals.
Venezuela, the host team, will play in the final game of the first night of the event, facing off against Nigeria at 7 p.m. CST on Monday in the preliminary round. Venezuela will then face Lithuania at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. See the complete schedule here.
