B1G Media Days: Bo vs. The Twitter Volcano

Nebraska coach Bo Pelini confirmed Friday he banned Twitter for his players this summer via mass text message. He might revisit the decision, but, for now, it’s “done.”

“I laid the ground rules and said ‘If you screw it up, it ain’t coming back,’” Pelini said. “There’s nothing good that can come of Twitter. You guys love it. But there’s nothing good. I don’t understand it. There’s nothing good that can ever come of it. The only things that can happen through Twitter are bad.

“To take your random thoughts and put them out there for the whole world to see, what good can ever come from that? Doesn’t make any sense to me.”

Doesn’t Pelini have a Twitter account with the occasional tweet?

“I probably still have it, but that isn’t me doing it,” he said.

Pelini said he was told that there are 300 fake Bo Pelini accounts on Facebook.

“I’ve eliminated some, but it’s a shame, because you can’t fix it,” Pelini said. “After awhile, it just beats you down.”

Pelini has his own private Facebook account that he uses to chat with players and potential recruits.
