Recruiting: NU commit transferring to Lincoln Southwest
Sam McKewon Omaha World-Herald

Lincoln Southwest picked up a huge transfer for the 2012 football season who also happens to be a Nebraska commit: Defensive end Christian Lacouture. Huskers Illustrated, the World-Herald’s recruiting partner, confirmed the news with Silver Hawks coach Mark King.

“It’s a pretty easy transition if the kid works hard,” King told HI. “If he comes in and doesn’t say a whole lot and goes to work, than the kids will accept him pretty quickly. As a coach that’s all you can ask for and Christian seems to be the type of kid that will do that.”

Lacouture’s mom found a job in Lincoln and Lacouture has developed a good relationship with LSW linebacker Josh Banderas. He’s a 6-foot-5, 265-pounder, from College Station, Texas, who picked NU over Michigan, LSU and Texas A&M.

Shortly after the news broke, Lacouture tweeted at Banderas: “lets go get that ring!! #hawks #huskers #statechamps”

HI will have more tonight, so stay tuned.

You’re correct, and that is getting to be a pretty common mistake.

      Who cares?

      1. Artifex says:

I care, plenty of others care, and so should you. It shows discipline as well as respect for yourself and consideration for others when people at least try and write like they are marginally literate. Discipline, respect, consideration, literacy…you know, the things we used to take for granted as a desirable part of American society.

Don’t get me started on people who think it’s OK to wear pajamas out in public.

    3. Jeff_Georgia says:

Mark: I suggest you check your own posts VERY carefully going forward, as I for one will be looking for your mistakes. There will be no excuses as you’ve set yourself up as a flawless editor and a grammar expert.

  2. Mike says:

You know what else would be nice? Information on where he is moving from since not everyone bothers to keep up with every high school kid who may be a future Husker.

    1. Brian Norton Brian Norton says:

Good point Mike. I’ll add a note to the blog. He’s from College Station, Texas as you can see in his player card.

      1. Mike says:

        Thanks Brian. I appreciate it!

Thanks for the info, An. That’s quite an impressive list, but the commitment to NU is obviously solid.

  4. MojoHusker says:

It’s hard on a kid to move schools, especially this late in high school. I wish his family well, and hope he fits in with the team and school.

And welcome to Lincoln, Christian! GBR!

    1. Baltar says:

It’s not that hard to move for a senior year in high school–especially when the kid is a huge football star. The whole school will love him.

    2. guest says:

Journal Star article said it was his 3rd High School in 3 years. I don’t think he will have any problem’s fitting in.

  5. TexasHusker says:

    Weclome to Nebraska, Christian!

    Love it!

  6. Gravy says:

    Go Big Christian.Welcome to Huskerland

  7. Melvin says:

Who wouldnt want to play the same place that produced nine Cotton bros and austin cassidy?

  8. Kansas Husker Fan says:

Geez all these english police on here makes one wonder if saying thee or thou in the Language of King James is acceptable to these little prissy nerds.

    1. Incorrigible1 says:

Revel in you ignorance! That is, be proud of it, to save you the trouble of looking up the meaning of “revel.”

      1. Gravy says:

I thought a revel was one of them ther people who done fought then Yanks in da Civul War.

    2. Artifex says:

Where does this attitude that it is OK to be an illiterate jerk come from? Why do people think it’s OK appear as if they haven’t mastered concepts and capabilities we should have acquired in grade school? Despite the anonymity, this is a public forum; do you condone appearing like a slob in public? Is your poop so odor free that you don’t have to be considerate? This is the kind of attitude that puts athletes on academic probation, kills their eligibility, and dampens their chances at a fulfilling career.

  9. HuskermavfanChuck says:

Sadly, it would not surprise me at all to learn that maybe he was taking a little guff in CS from choosing the Huskers. Glad to hear he’ll be a Silverhawk with someone he had developed a friendship with. Can’t wait to have both as Huskers in ’13! Welcome to Nebraska and welcome to Lincoln!
