SEEN

>> More than 40 media members attending a one-hour press conference before Fan Day. There were 18 cameras, two of which were iPhones attached to tripods. The contingent was even bigger than usual because of Fan Day, which generally draws TV reporters to Memorial Stadium.

>> Construction and renovation everywhere. The East Stadium expansion project is in full swing, with two cranes hovering over one side of the stadium. In the West Stadium press box, workers are busy replacing the carpet, which forced reporters to conduct interviews in the hall opposite the press conference area.

HEARD

“The whole reason he played the way that he did, 100 mph, 24 hours a day, seven days a week — it didn’t matter, he was all about doing everything that he could for his teammates. It wasn’t for the fans. It wasn’t to impress the media. It wasn’t to get to the NFL. It wasn’t for anyone else but his teammates and his family.”
— Ben Cotton on former Husker Grant Wistrom’s speech to current players

“From what I’ve seen of Tommy, he’s a smart kid. Pretty strong arm. Hopefully he could help us out this year.”
— Quarterback Taylor Martinez on freshman quarterback Tommy Armstrong
