Nebraska offensive lineman Ryan Klachko has transferred to fellow Big Ten member Illinois, coach Tim Beckman said Wednesday.

“Ryan was one of the top players in the state coming out of high school,” Beckman said of the Springfield, Ill., product. “We’re happy to welcome Ryan back to Illinois, where he’ll be closer to his family and friends.”

Klachko already is practicing at Illinois. He must sit out the 2012 season, then will have three years of eligibility. He redshirted his one season at Nebraska.

The 6-foot-4, 290-pounder was a four-star recruit coming out of high school.
