More Iowa woe at RB
Lee Barfknecht Omaha World-Herald

It wouldn’t be a week of college football without Iowa having another worry at running back.

In Saturday’s scrimmage, true freshman Barkley Hill took a hit on his left knee while crossing the goal line for an 8-yard touchdown. After several minutes on the ground, Hill was helped to his feet and hopped on one leg to a golf cart that hauled him to the training room.

No word yet on the severity. But fans who attended the open scrimmage reported they heard the training staff discuss hearing a “pop” when Hill went down. That often is the sound of a torn ACL.

The Hawkeye backfield has come to look like the Bermuda Triangle, where all who enter don’t always emerge.

One player who might get a more serious chance if Hill is out is sophomore Andre Dawson from Cedar Rapids, who played a season at Iowa Western Community College.
