Living up to the hype
Mike Patterson Omaha World-Herald

The much-publicized Battle on the Plains triangular Wednesday night at Creighton’s Sokol Arena lived up to the hype, and that wasn’t easy.

The event, which consisted of the top three high school volleyball teams in the nation, was memorable in so many ways. The crowd (2,600) was loud and supportive, the facility was first-rate and the high quality of play in all three matches was impressive.

Now for the big question: Which team will be ranked No. 1 in the next prepvolleyball.com national poll?

That’s tough to say, especially when:

No. 1 Torrey Pines defeated No. 2 Assumption.

No. 2 Assumption defeated No. 3 Papio South.

No. 3 Papio South defeated No. 1 Torrey Pines.

Congratulations to Papio South and prepvolleyball.com’s John Tawa for putting on an event that truly showcased the best of high school volleyball. It was a risky venture (and an expensive one, at that) but it turned out great.
