This is not remotely official. I don’t have an AP vote or anything this year. I just thought, me to you, you’d just really want to know what I thought. And I still had some time to kill.
Alabama (Beat Ole Miss 33-14) – Held the Rebels to 218 yards.
Georgia (Beat Tennessee 51-44) I’m supposed to drop the Bulldogs for a sloppy win over Tennessee. Meh, no thanks. When you can run 64 plays and gain 560 yards, you’re really, really good on offense.
Oregon (Beat Washington State 51-26) Big third quarter for the Ducks, pretty easy defense to do it on, too.
Florida State (Beat South Florida 30-17) The Seminoles outgained the Bulls 425-268 on the road. Solid win over a probable bowl squad.
Kansas State (Bye)
LSU (Beat Towson 38-22) The Tigers’ 41-3 win over Washington looks pretty good now. Big test at Florida comes next.
South Carolina (Beat Kentucky 38-17) Outscored the Wildcats 31-0 after halftime.
Notre Dame (Bye)
Florida (Bye)
Texas (Beat Oklahoma State 41-36) The Longhorns’ offense is back after a two-year hiatus. A huge tilt with West Virginia await. Can UT keep up in the track meet.
West Virginia (Beat Baylor 70-63) Some of the most embarrassing defense I’ve ever seen in a football game. Really.
Oregon State (Beat Arizona 38-35) A second straight Pac-12 road win for Beavers, a second straight trip to In-N-Out burger.
Ohio State (Beat Michigan State 17-16) Gritty win on the road, but you wonder if Braxton Miller can stay upright.
Oklahoma (Bye)
Clemson (Beat Boston College 45-31) The Eagles’ offense isn’t much good, and the Tigers let them hang around too long. Ohio State’s win is better.
Stanford (Lost to Washington 17-13) The Cardinal’s defense remains stout. Its offense needs work after scoring just 13 points vs. the Huskies.
USC (Bye) The Trojans can’t be ahead of Stanford right now, so they drop many spots.
UCLA (Beat Colorado 42-14 ) The Bruins’ loss to Oregon State looks better this week.
TCU (Beat SMU 24-16) The Horned Frogs beat up on another lesser foe. Time for real conference play.
Nebraska (Beat Wisconsin 30-27) No promotion in my poll, since the Huskers only played good football for 25 minutes of game clock.
Louisville (Beat Southern Miss 21-17) Won in a downpour, so I’ll give a little leeway on the score.
Rutgers (Bye)
Northwestern (Beat Indiana 44-29) Toughest test of the year at Penn State Saturday.
Mississippi State (Bye)
Louisiana Tech (Beat Virginia 44-38) Two straight wins at BCS programs from different leagues? Good enough for me right now. Washington is not here after having what amounted to 19 days to prepare for Stanford (a bye week + Portland State).
