Already unable to stop the Ohio State offense, Nebraska was dealt another blow when the Buckeyes got a 76-yard punt return from Corey Brown in the third quarter. That took the OSU advantage to 49-31 with 5:43 left in the third.
Nebraska had started the second half with a 3-yard touchdown pass from Taylor Martinez to Ben Cotton.
Ohio State then answered with a 10-play, 75-yard scoring drive, capped by Carlos Hyde’s 1-yard run. With that TD, the Buckeyes had scored on five straight offensive possessions.
>> The crowd of 106,102 is the all-time record for Ohio Stadium.
>> Nebraska I-back Rex Burkhead hurt his left knee after a 24-yard run to the Buckeyes’ 5 early in the third quarter. Burkhead missed two games after injuring the same knee on Sept. 1.
>> Before the Buckeyes’ punt return, Martinez was sacked on back-to-back plays to start that Nebraska possession.
>> Down 49-31, NU converted a fourth-and-2 from its own 46, but Martinez was intercepted by safety Ohrian Johnson a few plays later inside the Buckeyes’ 20.
