It was not only a bad night for Nebraska at Ohio State but a long Saturday for three of the Huskers’ five previous opponents from this season.
As a result, the Huskers’ strength of schedule, according to the Jeff Sagarin computer rankings, is now No. 59 (with obvious help from 6-0 Ohio State).
A look at each NU opponent:
>> Southern Mississippi dropped to 0-5 overall with a 40-14 home loss to Boise State. The Eagles have given up 40-plus points to three of those five opponents.
>> UCLA lost 43-17 at California, which came into the game 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the Pac-12. The Bruins (4-2, 1-2) have beaten just one team with a winning record – their 36-30 upset of Nebraska.
>> Arkansas State is 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the Sun Belt after winning 34-20 at Florida International.
>>Idaho State lost 77-10 at Portland State and is now 1-4. Take out a win over NCAA Division II Black Hills State and the Bengals are allowing 63.3 points a game.
>> Wisconsin (4-2, 1-1) bounced back from its loss at NU to beat Illinois 31-14. The Illini’s previous three losses were by 31, 28 and 28 points.
