Nebraska coach Bo Pelini said Tuesday that he expects I-back Rex Burkhead to bounce back fairly soon from the knee injury that knocked the senior out of Saturday night’s game at Ohio State.

Although Burkhead aggravated the left knee injury that he first suffered Sept. 1, Pelini said on the weekly Big Ten teleconference that Burkhead is fine.

“We’re not going to do a lot with him in practice this week,” Pelini said. “The injury wasn’t bad. We expect him to be full go for Northwestern.”

Nebraska has a bye week before traveling Oct. 20 to Northwestern.

As for those preparations, Pelini called it “getting back to fundamentals this week and practicing a few times, and be ready to roll for the challenge that lies ahead.”
