Nebraska’s football team got a commit from junior-college defensive end Randy Gregory last week. It’ll host another JUCO defensive lineman for Saturday’s game vs. Penn State.
Trinity Valley (Texas) C.C. tackle Quincy Russell — a 6-foot-3, 305-pound consensus four star – will take a harder look at NU Saturday.
“Schools recruit JUCOs to come in and play right away,” Russell told Huskers Illustrated. “Nebraska isn’t guaranteeing me a starting spot but if I do come in I’ve got a great chance of starting. Basically I’d come in and do the same work I always do to get that chance for a starting spot. There’s nothing guaranteed to anybody.”
Russell will take more official visits after NU. He’ll look at Oklahoma and Texas Tech for sure. Out of high school, Russell picked Texas over the Huskers, but didn’t academically qualify.
I’d call Russell Nebraska’s No. 2 target at JUCO DT after Toby Johnson. His star/national/position ratings with 247sports, 247 composite, Rivals, Scout and ESPN are:
Another visitor for Saturday: Weston (Fla.) Cypress Bay cornerback Boaz Joseph, who’s looking hard at Wisconsin, as well, according to Rivals.com. Joseph’s ratings are:
