The College basketball season kicked off on Friday with four Missouri Valley Conference teams in action. The league went 3-1 on the day, with the only loss coming to No. 13 UCLA.

In addition to Creighton’s 20-point win over North Texas, Missouri State and Bradley both won.

Missouri State 89, Philander Smith 61: Gavin Thurman had 19 points on 8 of 13 shooting including a perfect 3 for 3 from behind the arc to lead Missouri State.

Bradley 76, Eastern Illinois 53: Tyshon Pickett had 23 points and eight rebounds and Will Egolf and Dyricus Simms-Edwards added 11 each for Bradley.

No. 13 UCLA 86, Indiana State 59: Jordan Adams scored 21 points in his college debut and UCLA won its opener shortly after finding out star recruit Shabazz Muhammad was ruled ineligible by the NCAA.
