USC scouting report: The Trojans are coming off a 72-58 win over Arkansas State Wednesday night. They have talent and depth to burn, but they’ve struggled so far this year to shoot 3-pointers, making just 24 percent. Harbets, an All-Pac 12 honorable mention selection last year, is off to a hot start, getting to the free throw line 11 times per game. Adams and Gibbs, two highly touted freshmen, pace a young backcourt. USC traditionally draws small crowds; the largest of the year is 832 fans.

NU scouting report: The Huskers rebounded from a loss at South Dakota State with an uneven 85-72 win over Sam Houston State. Nebraska jumped to a 45-14 lead before taking its foot off the pedal and letting the Bearkats back in the game. Rebounding has been inconsistent early in the year, which could be a concern against a USC team outrebounding opponents by 12 boards per game. Coach Connie Yori is looking for more production from her bench, specifically post players Adri Maurer and Katie Simon, who are averaging 20 minutes and six points combined.

Opening tips: Nebraska beat No. 23 USC last year 68-50, holding Harbets to three points and four rebounds. The Trojans got in foul trouble as the Huskers shot 32 free throws.
