Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema said that the injury reports were good Monday on several Badgers, and specifically for receiver Jared Abbrederis (concussion) and offensive lineman Kyle Costigan (knee).
“Great news today,” Bielema said at his weekly press conference.
Bielema said the two likely will be held out of contact the first few days of the week. Also, linebacker Chris Borland (hamstring) is coming back strong after missing two games and should practice Tuesday.
Borland, by the way, was fighting an MCL sprain in his right knee the week before the first meeting with Nebraska, and Bielema wasn’t expecting him to play in that Sept. 29 game. Despite not practicing all week, Borland made nine tackles and recovered two fumbles in the 30-27 loss to the Huskers.
“I did a good enough job in rehab and felt ready to go, and I don’t think it affected my performance,” Borland said.
Bielema called Borland “a true warrior” for that effort against Nebraska.
“Even though he’s coming off an injury, he’ll be a lot better prepared than he was in the last meeting we had,” Bielema said.
