Nebraska boys basketball players to watch

Josiah Gustafson, Millard North, 6-5, guard-forward, Sr.: A returning All-Nebraska player, the Pittsburg State recruit will get a late start because of shoulder surgery.

Akoy Agau, Omaha Central, 6-9, forward, Sr.: A national top-100 college prospect who signed with Louisville. Should improve on his 11.6 ppg average while a threat every game to notch a triple-double.

Cam Williams, Omaha South, 6-0, guard, Sr.: Top scorer on last year’s state runner-up team averaged 18.1 ppg.

TréShawn Thurman, Omaha Central, 6-7, forward, Jr.: He’ll step into a starting spot for the Eagles after making the All-Metro third team as a backup.

Brett Dougherty, Papillion-La Vista, 6-6, center, Sr.: He’ll help keep the Monarchs among the Class A elite. Averaged 13 points and seven rebounds as a junior.

Tra-Deon Hollins, Omaha Central, 6-2, guard, Sr.: Improved his athleticism with a standout football season at wide receiver.

Nick Billingsley, Omaha Central, 6-4, forward, Sr.: Transfer from Omaha North, who has signed with UNO, is a key addition for the Eagles.

Ryan Tegtmeier, BDS, 6-0, guard, Sr.: One of the state’s best small-school athletes, he averaged 20 points as a junior.

Khyri Thomas, Omaha Benson, 6-4, guard-forward, Jr.: Part of a tall lineup for the Bunnies, he’s one of the top players in the junior class.

BJ Day, Lincoln Southeast, 6-4, forward, Jr.: Son of former Husker Bernard Day led the Knights in scoring and rebounding as a sophomore.
