Iowa on the fence for future Black Friday games

After losing twice to Nebraska on the day after Thanksgiving, Iowa is unsure it wants to continue playing the Huskers on Friday.

“I’ve talked to a lot of our fans that say a Friday is more challenging,” Iowa athletic director Gary Barta told CBSSports.com. “They’re trying to be with family on Thanksgiving and then they try to get to Iowa City.”

The Hawkeyes have yet to decide whether to continue the series on Friday.

I'm a Nebraska fan, but come on, Iowa--are you too chicken to play on the day after Thanksgiving? Who knows, you might even WIN a game or games and make the Iowa/Nebraska matchup a real rivalry. Don't give up the series, Iowa!

Good riddance then, I would much rather see Wisconsin on Black Friday now anyways. I think this will be a better rivalry anyways. GBR

Wait, I have been to Iowa City, and I have been to Norman, Oklahoma. It is closer to Iowa to a game then to Oklahoma to a game, yet we did it in groves. Maybe our Friday game should be Wisconsin, they would do it in a heartbeat.

Nothing wrong with Iowa playing Nebraska, but Iowa's biggest rival has always been Minnesota for the Floyd of Rosedale trophy which has always been played the last game of the season. Having a trophy called the Hero's trophy sounds to nice.

Typical Barta--wishy washy, just like when they 'deal' with the issues that have plagued their athletic dept. and football team. Makes ya wonder who is in control! Isn't he the one who signed off on the "$1 million-a-win coaching" extension for Ferentz? Good value, there!

I wouldn't have an issue if we switch the opponent with some like O ST or Wis. Something truely meaningful and for real marbles.

Who really wants to watch us play Iowa on Friday anyway? Let's find another team that's actually a contender to play on this day like MSU or Wisconsin. Also would prefer we drop PSU as our crossover rivalry, Wisconsin makes more sense.
