Nebraska I-back Rex Burkhead and linebacker Sean Fisher are both repeat Academic All-Americans, Burkhead as a first-teamer and Fisher as a second-team pick.
NU was one of only eight schools to have two or more players on the Division I team announced Thursday.
Also, Burkhead and Fisher became the Huskers’ 300th and 301st all-time Academic All-Americans across all sports, the first school in any division to reach that milestone.
Burkhead, a senior from Plano, Texas, carries a 3.448 grade average in history and will graduate next week, completing his undergraduate degree in just 3 ½ years. Fisher, a senior from Millard North, maintains a perfect 4.00 grade average in business administration/pre-medicine, and currently is in the process of applying to med schools.
