FORT MYERS, Fla.  — As it ended up, Omaha Central was on the tougher side of the bracket in the City of Palms Classic boys basketball tournament.

The winners of all three games Saturday came from that side, with Montverde (Fla.) Academy blasting Long Peak (Utah) 66-45 in the final before a packed house at Bishop Verot High School.

The two teams that beat the Eagles in the tournament also won. Long Beach (Calif.) Poly took third by beating Memphis Southwind 64-57. Chicago Whitney Young claimed fifth with a 67-56 win over Chester (Pa.), which brought a 60-game winning streak to Fort Myers before losing twice.

The Eagles, because it was too cold for the beach, went back to the malls before watching Saturday night’s games.
