The Nebraska men’s basketball team won’t play for five days after Sunday night’s 68-52 loss to host UTEP in the championship game of the Sun Bowl Invitational.
The Huskers (8-4) went scorless the first 6:26 and fell behind 13-0. They never really challenged after that.
Guard Ray Gallegos scored a carer-high 22 points for NU. His previous best was 20.
Nebraska’s next game is Saturday at 2 p.m. at home against Nicholls State (1-8). That is the last nonconference game. Big Ten play starts Jan. 2 at seventh-ranked Ohio State.
