Some sorta-bad news for Georgia’s defense in the Capital One Bowl: Starting nose tackle John Jenkins — massive and important to the Bulldogs’ front seven — will miss the game for academic reasons, Georgia coach Mark Richt announced Wednesday.
Jenkins’ backup might be even more talented, if not more productive: 6-foot-6, 355-pound junior Kwame Geathers, who comes from a family full of NFL players. He has 37 tackles this year and more tackles for loss than Jenkins did. There won’t be much dropoff. Geathers, a fourth-year junior, is considering declaring for the NFL Draft this year.
