Creighton scouting report: The Bluejays finished nonconference play with a No. 16 ranking in the rankings. That number is bound not to rise, even if they keep winning. Southern Illinois enters the game with a RPI of 324. Creighton also plays at Evansville on this trip, and the Purple Aces’ are 263rd. … The Bluejays rank second nationally in 3-point baskets per game (9.8) and also are 14th in 3-point percentage (.372). … Freshman Marissa Janning is fourth in the country in 3-point percentage at .511. …. Creighton reserves have outscored their counterparts by 114 points this season. … Junior forward Sarah Nelson leads the team with seven double-figure scoring games, while Janning and Carli Tritz have six each. Nelson has recorded two double-doubles, the only Bluejay to record that accomplishment this season.

Southern Illinois scouting report: The Salukis have won two straight after starting the season 1-8. … Sophomore Cartaesha Macklin is one of the quickest players in the Valley and leads Southern Illinois with a 14.6 scoring average. She also averages just under four assists per game, has gotten to the free-throw line 67 times already this season and is shooting a team-best 34.1 percent from beyond the arc. … Freshman Azia Washington earned Valley newcomer of the week honors after notching career-highs with 17 points and 17 rebounds in a win over Chicago State. Washington is averaging 7.5 points and 6.3 rebounds in the Salukis’ first 11 games.

Opening tips: Creighton is both 13-7 in Valley opening games and the first conference game on the road. … The Bluejays hold a 30-15 edge in the series against the Salukis and have won nine straight. … Creighton coach Jim Flanery is two wins shy of the 200-victory mark.
