A second player from Orlando in less than a week committed to Nebraska for the 2013 class — and defensive tackle Kevin Maurice played at the same Freedom High School where NU practiced for the Capital One Bowl.
A 6-foot-3, 270-pounder who’s a two-star prospect according to Rivals, 247Sports and Scout, Maurice got the offer to NU and committed shortly thereafter. The Huskers are on the prowl for defensive tackles given some of the depth problems at the end of 2012, and given that several junior college defensive tackles have already turned Nebraska down.
Maurice’s best offer, outside of Nebraska, was Boston College. Of the many Florida schools that could have offered Maurice, only Florida Atlantic did.
Nebraska will get a visit this weekend from Kansas City (Mo.) Center defensive tackle Maliek Collins. The three-star prospect is believed to be down to NU and Missouri.
