Recruiting: Dominic Walker switches commitment to Auburn

Nebraska wide receiver pledge Dominic Walker Friday flipped his commitment to Auburn, announcing his switch on 810 AM in Orlando.

The reason: The Tigers and the SEC are closer than the Huskers and the Big Ten. The Orlando (Fla.) Evans prospect will join his high school teammate, Tony Stevens.

“I chose the school I thought would be better for me,” Walker said on the “Friday Night Lights” program.  ”I have a lot of people that come up to Auburn a lot, so it’s not too far from home. I’ll still have the support I have right here in Orlando, Florida. I’ll still be able to communicate with everyone and see a few people that I want to.”

Walker said he had to sleep on his decision for a few days after hearing from fans of both schools.

“This last week has been tough,” Walker said. “It’s been frustrating. A lot of people have had their own opinions of where I should go…it was very difficult, because both teams have great opportunities. Both have great fan support.”

The Huskers are back down to 23 commits for the 2013 class.
