The Omaha Lancers took on the Lincoln Stars at TD Ameritrade Park on Saturday, the first outdoor hockey game in United States Hockey League history.
To mark the historic event, World-Herald photographer Chris Machian used Gigapan technology to create a 2.98-gigapixel image (that’s 2,979 megapixels!) of the action and attendees at the first of Saturday’s pair of outdoor hockey games. Because the large panoramic image was created by stitching together 380 high-resolution photos taken over a period of 23 minutes, there may be a few blurred sections where there was movement during the image-capture process or where pictures were stitched together.
If you were at the game, try to find yourself or your friends, and make sure to tag them in the Facebook comments below so they can see it with their own eyes.
