Stu Pospisil breaks down Friday’s Nebraska state basketball semifinals.

South Sioux City won the highest-scoring Class B tournament game since 1971, needing overtime to make its fourth state final. Nate Rogers scored 31 points in the 84-76 win over Elkhorn South. The Cardinals will play defending champion Scottsbluff at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in a rematch of the 2012 final.

“We can’t get in a track meet,” — Papillion-La Vista coach Jason Ryan on the Monarchs’ finals matchup with Omaha Central.

Jonathan Abbott of Wahoo, above, scored 30 points as the Warriors defeated Wayne 56-49 to reach the Class C-1 final for the second straight year.

Class D-1 will have an undefeated champion as Paxton and Howells-Dodge won their semifinals. Paxton had the closer game in eliminating defending champion O’Neill St. Mary’s 38-36.
