Nebraska freshman Shavon Shields is on pace to post a career scoring high in the first round of the Big Ten men’s basketball tournament.
The 6-foot-6 wing has 15 points in the first half against Purdue on 6 of 7 field goals and 2 of 2 free throws.
Despite his efforts and the Huskers shooting 52 percent from the field, NU’s lead is only 30-28 after 20 minutes.
Shields scored 29 points in a win at Penn State, matching the second-best freshman point total ever at NU.
