The University of Nebraska at Omaha is off to a 22-2 start, marking the best start since the 2002 season when the Mavs began 25-2.
The Mavs opened their season with eight straight wins and also boast a nine-game win streak this year, the longest since a 12-game win streak in late March and early April of 2011.
UNO’s .917 winning percentage ranks fifth in Division I behind only Arizona State (25-1), Oklahoma (22-1), Florida (25-2) and Texas A&M (23-2). Although the Mavs can’t officially be included in NCAA statistics this year because of their transition status, they are 11th in D-I with 28 home runs and are tied for second with 12 triples.
UNO will attempt to play a doubleheader with North Dakota State at 2 p.m. Saturday, depending on the field conditions at Westside Field at Westbrook.
