The Creighton Bluejays will know their NCAA tournament matchup in just a few hours. Grant Gibbs is not expecting the Bluejays to avoid the eight-nine game.
Check back in at 7 p.m. to chat with Steven Pivovar about Creighton’s NCAA tournament matchup.
In the final brackets on Sunday, most of the experts disagree with Gibbs. ESPN, CBS and Sports Illustrated all have Creighton as a 7. USA Today has the Bluejays much lower, as a 9 seed.
>> ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has Creighton as a 7-seed in Philadelphia against 10-seed Iowa State. Winner of that game would take on Duke or Florida Gulf Coast for a shot at the Sweet 16 in the South region. Other 10 seeds include Villanova, Minnesota and Cincinnati.
>> Jerry Palm of CBS Sports has Creighton as a 7, also in Philadelphia, facing Minnesota. The winner of that game would face either Duke or Albany for a chance to reach the Sweet 16 in the East region. Other 10 seeds in Palm’s bracket include Temple, Iowa State and California.
>> SI.com’s Andy Glockner picks the Bluejays as a 7 seed as well, with CU set to face future Big East foe Villanova in the round of 64 in Dayton, Ohio. The CU-Villanova winner would face either Ohio State or Florida Gulf Coast in the third round in the Midwest region. Other 10 seeds in this bracket include Temple, Iowa State and Wichita State.
>> Finally, USA Today’s bracket, constructed by Patrick Stevens, has Creighton as 9 seed facing Memphis in Lexington, Ky. The winner would face Louisville in the third round. Other 8 seeds in this bracket are Illinois, N.C. State, San Diego State.
