Hoop changes ahead
Mike Patterson Omaha World-Herald

The girls basketball season has just ended, but there have been two major developments that will change the landscape next season.

Sophomore forward Jessica Shepard will transfer from Lincoln Southeast to Fremont High following the hiring of her father Mark as the new Fremont Public Schools superintendent. Shepard led the Knights to a state title this season, averaging almost 25 points and 11 rebounds per game.

On the coaching front, Tom Tvrdy has announced his resignation after 12 seasons at Seward. Tvrdy guided the Bluejays to four straight state titles (2009-2012) and a 104-game win streak, second longest ever in Nebraska.

There are sure to be other changes — coaching moves, player transfers, etc. — before the start of next season. But these two developments certainly got the offseason off to an interesting start.

Stay tuned.
