Creighton center Gregory Echenique had seven points, four rebounds and a blocked shot in 17 minutes as his East squad defeated the West squad 87-81 at the NABC All-Star Game at the Georiga Dome, site of this weekend’s Final Four.
Echenique made 3 of 7 shots from the field and 1 of 2 free throws. He grabbed two offensive and two defensive rebounds.
Ohio guard D.J. Cooper was named player of the game from the East team after finishing with 11 points and nine assists. He was one of six men on the East team to finish in double-figures in scoring.
Iowa State’s Will Clyburn was named the West’s player of the game, finishing with a game-high 17 points to go with eight rebounds.
Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin coached the victorious East squad, while Iowa State’s Fred Hoiberg mentored the West squad.
