The Summit League named UNO junior Sami Spenner its female athlete of the week Tuesday.
The University of Nebraska at Omaha track and field athlete set two school records last weekend in a pair of California meets. On Thursday, Spenner shattered the school’s heptathlon record by scoring 5,806 points, the second best score in Division I this year, to win the event at the Mt. SAC Relays. She won the event by taking the 800-meter race in a personal-best time of 2:14.90. She also set a personal record, 37′-11½”, in the shot put.
On Saturday, she re-set her own school record in the triple jump, posting a leap of 40′-2¾” at the Beach Invitational in Norwalk, Calif.
