Metro track meet canceled

The Metro Conference track meet, because of inclement weather, has been canceled. It’s the first time since the league’s inception in 1964-65 that the meet has not been completed. In 1999, it took three extra days to finish the pole vault competition because of inclement weather. In 1995, the meet postponed its second-day events by one day.

On Tuesday, three track finals and three field finals were scheduled and completed for both boys and girls.

Also canceled is the River Cities Conference track meet at Ralston, which had been pushed back from Thursday to Friday before league athletic directors Thursday agreed to scrub it.

The Eastern Midlands Conference meet at Bennington has been postponed from Thursday to Monday at 3:30 p.m.

District meets are next Wednesday for Classes A and D and next Thursday for Classes B and C.
