Gatorade and USA TODAY announced Tuesday that Michael Kluver of Omaha Skutt has been selected as the 2O12-13 Gatorade Nebraska Boys Soccer Player of the Year.
Kluver, now a finalist for Gatorade’s national boys soccer award to be announced later this month, is the second honoree chosen from Skutt, joining 2009 selection Michael Burke.
The award recognizes outstanding athletic excellence, high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field.
The 6-foot-4, 180-pound senior goalkeeper led the SkyHawks to a 19-1 record entering tonight’s Class B state final against South Sioux City. Kluver, a 2012 All-Nebraska first team selection by The World-Herald, has allowed 11 goals and recorded 12 shutouts in 20 games.
