The Summit League announced the selection of University of Nebraska at Omaha baseball player Ryan Keele the league’s Player of the Year. The same press release revealed Keele’s selection as Newcomer of the Year and Athlete of the Month.
The senior earned three-straight Player of the Week honors in May, when the senior batted .509 (29-for-57) with five doubles, three homers, 19 RBIs, nine runs, seven walks, three steals and three sacrifices. He had just one strikeout during the month.
Keele hit .385 on the season, second in the Summit only to UNO teammate Cory Buckley’s .391 average. Keele scored 30 runs, tallied 33 RBIs (third in the Summit) and hit a league-leading six home runs as the Mavs earned their first Division I league title.
