The Tempe, Ariz., product hasn’t had the easiest year. Injuries derailed what appeared to be a promising true freshman campaign — Moss got a medical redshirt after appearing in a few games — and he’s set to stand trial in July on public indecency and disturbing the peace charges. Regardless of the court outcome — Moss has pleaded not guilty — he’s likely to play at some point in 2013 at a base defensive end spot.

In practice and limited game action, Moss has shown the ability to push the pocket with his size and shed blockers when necessary. He weighs enough that, if NU suddenly becomes enamored with several of its new defensive ends, Moss could slide inside and play tackle in a pinch. There’s still a lot of potential, and Moss could eventually start. He just has to stay healthy and get legal issues straightened out.
