Nebraska men’s basketball coach Tim Miles announced Friday the addition of walk-on Tim Wagner for the upcoming season.
A 6-foot-3 guard from Galesville, Wis., Wagner averaged 23.8 points last season at Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School (20-5). He lettered four times and tallied 1,354 points, 249 rebounds, 280 assists and 83 steals in his prep career.
Miles said his relationship with the Wagner family goes beyond basketball.
“Tim Wagner is a guy who’s dad was one of my best friends in college,” Miles said in a press release. “I’ve known his dad, Mark, since 1985. When Mark came to me and said ‘Would you consider Tim?’ I said, ‘Absolutely. This guy’s like blood.’
“He’s a good player. He’s that prototypical non-scholarship guy you want who could maybe have an impact on your program.”
The son of Mark and Nancy, Wagner joins an NU roster stocked with guards, including Deverall Biggs, David Rivers, Benny Parker, Max Ritchie, Trevor Menke, Mike Peltz, Ray Gallegos and Shavon Shields.
